Turkey Shoot: Master of the Game
Apr. 27, 2001 --
"Master of the Game," a psychological drama directed by Jeff
Stolhand ("What I Like About You," "Seeking The Cafe
Bob") and written by Uygar Aktan, has begun principal photography at
the Austin Studios (formerly Austin Airport) in Austin.
Aktan is also the star of the film. Rod Hardy, one of the directors of
"The X Files," is the executive producer. "Master of the
Game" will continue shooting through May 6. Aside from Aktan, the
casting was done using actors drawn almost exclusively from the talent
pool in Austin and the surrounding area.
"Master of the Game" is a World War II psychological drama. Set
in the winter of 1944, the fates of four Jewish concentration camp
fugitives and four Nazi military officials collide inside a cabin atop an
Alpine region that is cut off from the rest of the world by a rainstorm.
At sunset, the Nazis accept a challenge from one of the fugitives to play
a bizarre "mind game." By the crack of dawn the next morning,
there are seven dead men and one survivor ... one Master.
Since the 1950's award-winning classic "12 Angry Men," the
inspiration for "Master of the Game," there has been no other
film that takes place almost entirely in one interior, where one man
psychologically breaks down an entire antagonistic group by the power of
words and conviction to emerge as the winner and the only champion of
truth.
"Master of the Game" uses the newest technological breakthrough
in filmmaking. Jeff Stolhand will be among the first directors in the
world to shoot an entire film with the new Sony HD F900 High Definition
video camera.
